Kaufman County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, Inc.

Vehicle Donation
Do you have a car, truck, boat, plane, RV, ATV, trailer or similar type of vehicle that you are looking to get rid of, but don't want to take the time, money and problems that go with trying to sell it? We offer two ways for you to dispose of these vehicles at no cost to yourself and you will receive a tax deduction at the same time. No more advertising to sell your vehicle, no more waiting for someone to buy it, you can now donate it and help generate much needed money to support our emergency response activities.

Trinity Valley Amateur Radio Club EmComm Van    The first option that we wish to offer is by having your vehicle donated directly to Kaufman County ARES, Inc. for our use. If you donate a vehicle directly to use, you can generally receive a tax deduction for the current value of the vehicle*. At this time, there are only certain vehicles that we are looking for that would qualify for a direct donation, so be sure to read our direct vehicle donation program page for more information and to contact us.

The second option, which we are excited to offer, is the ability to donate your vehicle to be placed up for auction**, in which we receive a portion of the proceeds that are received for its sale. If you have a vehicle that you wish to donate, but it does not meet with our requirements, please consider this option. Working with the Vehicle Donation Processing Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we are pleased to offer our Vehicle Auction Program. This vehicle auction program is very simple in that you call a toll-free number or use the online form to submit your information and Vehicle Donation Processing Center, Inc. takes care of all the rest. To learn more about our auction program, click the link above. Make an Auto Donation by visiting our donation page or Click for Car Donation form.

* The IRS allows donors to claim the fair market value of their vehicle when donated directly to the organization for its use. Ask you tax professional as to whether you might have to obtain a appraisal of your vehicle to claim the deduction amount. If the donate vehicle is sold within the first two (2) years of donation, our organization is required to send you a form showing that it was sold and for how much. This form will need to be provided to your tax professional.

** Vehicles that are donated for auction will be processed by Vehicle Donation Processing Center, Inc., a California based 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, on behalf of Kaufman County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, Inc. We receive 50% of all proceeds received from the sale of the vehicle. You will be sent a donation receipt by VDPC after the sale of the vehicle which will have the amount that you can claim a deduction for.
