Training Material Donations
tech.jpg    Training is a very important part in getting an Amateur Radio license.  In one way or another, you have to take some time to learn about Amateur Radio, how it functions, the rules, regulations and other aspects that go along with it.  There are tons of sources on the Internet to help people obtain or upgrade their license.  The main problem is that there are very few that are free.  As an Amateur Radio club we have a duty to help prepare individuals in getting their first license or upgrading their current license.

When someone comes and ask to get helping with obtaining their license, we work with them to get them included in a class that we might be hosting or work to get a new class going.  One of the things that we recommend to them is that they obtain a copy of the manual for the license that are working on, but we also recommend that they allow us to order the manual for a discount for them.  If they order the manual from the ARRL or most any other supplier, it is going to run them about $25+s/h*, but if they allow us to order the manual for them, it will be $19 only (subject to change).     Sometimes, even this little amount may be more than some kids or families can afford at the time, but we still feel the need to get them licensed out-ways their inability to pay.  We are accepting almost anything that can be used for training purposes.  Whether its old radio's (preferally that work) to license manuals (must be current editions).  We are also seeking financial donations that can be used to help purchase or partially cover the cost of order training materials.  In cases where we cover the entire cost of the training materials, they will be returned to the organization to be used in future class.  Those materials that are partially purchased will be allowed to remain with the buyer, unless they wish to donate it back to the training classes.

We consider this a scholarship program for those wanting to obtain or upgrade their license.  Now you have an opportunity to help us make their dreams a reality.  The more items that we can order at one time, the more cost efficient it is for the ARRL and us.  Below is a list of all the current training material and the cost under our program.

  • Technician License Manual (complete manual with Q&A) - $19.00
  • Technician License Q&A only - $13.75
  • General License Manual (complete manual with Q&A) - $19.00
  • General License Q&A only - $13.75
  • Extra License Manual (complete manual with Q&A) - $19.00
  • Extra License Q&A only - $13.75
  • Getting Started In Ham Radio - $15.00
  • Basic Radio-Understanding the Key Building Blocks - $23.00
  • Understanding Basic Electronics - $23.00
  • Basic Electronics Course and Kit - $43.00

If you have other items that you feel might be able to be used for training, you are more than welcome to contact us to see, just use the Contact Us form.  Below, we have listed some other items that we can use for training classes.  If you have these or can help get them or support our efforts to obtain them, please let us know.

  • List to come

* When you make an order from the ARRL (or most suppliers) you will have a shipping and handle fee added to your order.  This fee varies depending on the total amount of your order.  According to their site, if you were to order just one manual for a license class from them, it would cost you $25 for the manual and $8.00 for the shipping and handling.  This would cause your order to be $33 for the 1 book, compared to the $19 you would pay us.  We are able to obtain the books at a discount, plus without any shipping fee.
