The members of Kaufman County ARES would like to again thank Legacy Academy in Kaufman for being a sponsor by allow us to use their school facility as our new organizational home for at least the next 3 years. Thanks to their support, we no longer have to be sure that we are able to obtain a place to hold our classes and meetings.  Legacy Academy has shown a commitment to the community by providing us access to their facilities when we need them. In the future we are hoping to work with the school in setting up an amateur radio station on their campus to be utilized by their students. This would be a tool that can be utilized in teach the kids different aspects of science and more. Legacy Academy is a part of the Honors Academy, which is a Texas Charter School district, which means that is basically is a private public school, that does not charge for its students to attend. The school is located at 601 S. Washington St. in Kaufman and they have just recently started to expand their campus, including bring in more grade levels to their system. Thanks to this, we will have the opportunity to present amateur radio to more students in this location and maybe bring more of our young folks in to the amateur radio service.

In a special agreement reached between Legacy Academy, Kaufman County ARES and Kaufman County CERT, we have setup and created the Kaufman County CERT/ARES Scholarship Fund. This is a speical scholarship setup to help deserving students of Legacy Academy to further their education after high school.
