Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Course Print E-mail
Friday, 23 May 2008
The Amaerican Radio Relay League (ARRL) has many courses that you can choose from, but we highly recommended taking at least the Level I class of their Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Course.  This is a great course for any amateur radio operator, but even more useful to members of an ARES organization.  These courses are offered online, in the class room or in a hybred setting.arecc.jpg

To take these courses, you will go to the ARRL website and register with them.  There is a fee involved that is paid to the ARRL to cover the cost of the class, but you should be able to get it reimbursed back after you have completed them do to grants that they received, but be sure to contact the ARRL to be sure they are available at the time.  If you are a member of the ARRL, the fee is discounted to $45, if you are not a member, the class fee is $75.

As you complete the courses, you are able to download a copy of your training Certificate, ID Card and other information, but the ARRL will also mail you a nice, printed Certificate, ID and sticker.  You do not have to order the books to take the online class, as all the information in included on the site and you generally have between 8 to 16 weeks to complete the course, just depends on which one you are taking.  Use the links below to be taking to the ARRL website for more information.
