In an effort to be able to access our volunteers in a more timely
fashion, we have started to use a service called TellMyCell. By using
this service, we will be able to provide important information to our volunteers, such as meeting times, training class reminders, deployment activication and more.
TellMyCell is a unique service that gives us (or any business) the ability to send important messages to our members and volunteers directly to their email accounts, cellphones, PDA's or even home home. These messages can be a pre-recorded message or can be created on the fly as needed. In an effort to streamline our ability to contact our members, TellMyCell will all us to better utilize our members.
We will also be using the TellMyCell service when we need to activate members into SkyWarn Storm Spotter operations. Sometimes, it will be easier to send a text message to a members cellphone than to try and track them down. This way, no matter where they are, we will be able to reach them.
The TellMyCell service also gives us the ability to send messages to individual members only or to certian groups, such as just Storm Spotters or shelter communicators. We will also be using this service on the monthly basis to send reminders about all meetings that we will be having, usually 2 days before the meeting is to take place.
