ell the Scarecrow Festival is over and it was a great time. This year, Kaufman County ARES, Inc. and Kaufman County CERT, Inc. raffled off two bikes. There was one adult 18 speed mountain bike and one youth freestyle bike. This was a great opportunity to get people interested in our programs. We would like to congratulate the winners of these bikes.
The winner of the adult mountain bike was Larry Counts of Kaufman Texas. Mr. Counts received his bike on Sunday

afternoon with it being presented by Chris Hodgdon KE5IGO - Emergency Coordinator for Kaufman County ARES, Inc. While Mr. Counts was sure that he would not win when he bought his tickets on Saturday, he was ecstatic that he actually won. We wish him the best of luck with his new bike.
The winner of our youth bike is Joni Halford, also of Kaufman Texas. Mrs. Halford is one of the newest members of Kaufman County ARES, Inc. and decided late in the day on Saturday to throw her name into the raffle. She and other members were complled to help

support our efforts even more by trying to win one of the bikes. Mrs. Halford was contacted Sunday about her name being drawn and was so excited.
Mrs. Halford was presented her new bike on Tuesday at the weekly technician class. We know that she will find a good use for this new bicycle and wish her the best of luck with it.
Overall, the raffle was a huge success. Two people receive very nice bicycles that they can use and we received funds to help our youth and other programs. Currently, we are looking for new ideas and items that we can use for next years Scarecrow Festival.
