Its Time For A Challenge
W
ell, we are excited to announce a special challenge to all of our
members and anyone that wishes to help. Since the beginning, we have
been working on our 2-meter repeater. This has been an up and down hill battle since it started, but in the past week, we have been presented a great opportunity.
We have had a member step forward with a special challenge, but this is for anyone and everyone to take part in. While we can not mention the name of this individual at this time, we can tell you what his plan is. We are starting a challenge to raise the funds needed to finish the repeater, we are looking to raise a total of $5000, which will be used to purchase the items we need, setup power and other items needed to get the repeater on the air, like it should be. This may seem like a lot of money just for a repeater, but this is being used for every possible need that we will have as we get it online.
Now, here comes the challenge. The unnamed individual has come to Kaufman County ARES with this offer. This radio operator has agreed to donate match all donations that we receive from other members, amateur radio operators and individuals alike. He will match all donations upto a total of $4000. What does that mean, well, if we can receive $2000 in donations, he will donation an additional $2000, giving us a total donation of $4000.
While we know that the economy is down and some people feel that its at its worst, we feel that most people out there can find a way to make a small donation. Even if you were to donate only $5 for this project, with this challenge, your donation would actually be $10 ($5 from you, $5 from match donor 5+5=10). You can make a donation several ways, you can send a check to Kaufman County ARES (information below), via credit card (use button), cash (information below) or possible other types of donations.
All we are asking is for everyone that can to make a small donation to help get this repeater up and running. This is not only for ARES operations, but will be available to the amateur radio community at large. Any donation amount will help to make a difference, even if you can not donate money, think about what you might be able to donate that we can use and just let us know. Have something you think we can auction off to help raise donations, please let us know, anything will help.
There will be some items that we will be looking for in the near future, such as feedline and other similar items, that if you have and are willing to donate, please send us an email and let us know.
If you would like to make a donation using check or money order, you can send them to the following:
Checks made out to: Kaufman County ARES, Inc.
1904 Melody Circle
Kaufman, TX 75142-9684
If you wish to donate using cash, please send us an email or call 972-704-4318 and leave a message if needed and we will get back with you to arrange to personally pick it up. Do not send cash in the mail.
If you wish to make a donation using your credit card/bank card, please click on the secure donation link above and you will be taken to our processor, who will handle the transaction. All credit card donations have a small fee that is deducted by the processor to handle to transaction. This is the same no matter how credit cards are accepted.
All donations are 100% Tax Deductible under the law and you will recieve a donation receipt. For donations under $250, you can use the canceled check or credit card transaction email if you wish, but we will still email out a receipt. All donation receipts are issued by email to help save on cost.
