The new ID Card design has been approved.
The new ID Card design has been officially approved. This is a great improvement over the paper cards that some of your might have received or have seen. The paper card is the basic card that the ARRL will provide us to give members, but it really does not present a professional ID that a lot of agencies would like to see, please since they are paper, they can be easily damaged, even if lamanated.
ID Card Front
The new ID cards are printed on plastic card stock and has a similar feel and look to your Texas issued drivers license. These ID cards a printed here in the Dallas area by a local company , using the same technology as Texas DPS and the military.
Currently, these are dumb cards. This means that they do not contain any type of magnetic strips, computer chips or any other device that could be used to open doors, activate machines, etc. In the future, we will be looking into smart cards that would allow us to place a lot of information about you, such as amateur class, hometown, FCC license, etc., that can be accessed as needed. There is also an option to allow for the operation of doors and other items on properties that we may have in the future.
At this point in time, the organization can not pay for these cards for our members, but we have been able to obtain a price of $7.00 for each card and they are valid for a period of @ 2 years. This price includes everything that comes with the card, i.e. card, printing, standard clip and shipping.
We are working on making sure that we have a digital photo of each member and that it is of the correct size for the card. If you have a photo you wish to use, must be a head shot, please feel free to send it to us. If we are unable to locate a photo of you, we will contact you and arrange to meet to obtain a new image.
ID Card Back
The ID card contains basic information about you. It has you name, FCC issued callsign, member since date, valid until date, and a signature line on the back.
When you receive your ID card, please be sure to go to the backside of it and sign your name on the signature line. Your card is not valid until signed.
You should get in the habit of carry your ID card with you at all times. You never know when you might need it. We are looking at ordering some custom lanyards and would recommend that everyone get one and card your card around your neck. if you currently carry some type of ID card on a holder, you should be able to just add this one on there with it.
Kaufman County ARES reserves the right to change the ID card design at anytime for security reasons. If you lose your card, there is a $10.00 replacement fee. These ID cards are the property of Kaufman County ARES, Inc. and must be returned up request from any command staff member or upon leaving the KCARES program.
You should be aware that you may be requested to present your ID card upon arriving at any assigned location when acting on ARES behalf. If so requested, you must present your card.
This ID card, design and layout are copyrighted and trademarked property of Kaufman Coutny ARES, Inc. and Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. Any illegal use of or attempt use of this card will be strictly enforced to the fullest extent of the law.
