Tuesday, 15 April 2008
We are please to offer licensing classes to assist people in becoming an amateur radio operator.  We have two types of classes for you to choose from, so please read the information below. When All Else Fails logos   We are please to offer licensing classes to assist people in becoming an amateur radio operator.  We have two types of classes for you to choose from, so please read the information below.

We will be having an ongoing class that will be held every Tuesday night that will last about an hour and a half.  This class is for getting your Technician License and includes all training material and testing.  When students of this class feel that they are ready to take their test, we will setup a testing session, which usually takes place on a Saturday morning.  All information will be provided to the students.

Tuesday classes are limited to 20 students per class.  Pre-registration is required so that we may obtain your training materials.  Each class will usually run between 8 and 12 weeks in length and then we will start the class over.  If we have enough people interested, we can setup a one day class on a Saturday that includes training and testing at the end of the day.

Pre-Register Today

At this time, we are only offering classes for Technician.  In the future, we hope to offer classes for General and Amatuer Extra, be sure to check back for details.  While we try to keep the expense down for these classes, there is a $55 registration fee.  This fee includes the following: ARRL Technician License Manual, Part 97 Manual, Test Fee.  This is for the standard Technician class program.  If you wish to take a one day Saturday class, the fee is generally $14 - $15, but it does not include the purchase of any training material.

If you wish, you can also pay an additional $20 to cover the purchase of your Kaufman County ARES T-Shirt and ID Card which will be ordered once your license has been obtained.  Whether you want to help out during an emergency, wish to take part in contest or just chat on the air, getting your Amateur Radio license has never been easier* or more fun, than it is now.

    * The test to obtain your license are not extremely easy to pass, but with a little training and practice testing, most anyone can pass these test.
