These changes are designed to allow us to bring more people into Amateur Radio and to better serve the public. Currently, we are offering training to obtain your Technician license, which is all you need to start using Amateur Radio.In the very near future, we will start to offer General License upgrade training. We will update this page to reflect this change. It has never been easier to obtain your Amateur Radio license and we will work with you to get there. Worried about Morse Code, well its no longer required. So what are you waiting for. In an effort to better serve the public all of our training is offered for free*. We have limited training materials that are available, so please feel free to contact us for more information. We are offering two different days for classes, so please look at the list below for information on them.
If you are interested, we are able to order the ARRL Technician License Manual, whhich contains all of the test questions/answers and makes a very valuable tool. The cost of this book is $19, if you try to purchase this book anywhere else, it will run you $25 + shipping for a total of $33. You can save $14 by having us order it for you. At this time, we are only offering classes for Technician. In the future, we hope to offer classes for General and Amatuer Extra, be sure to check back for details. If you wish, you can also pay an additional $20 to cover the purchase of your Kaufman County ARES T-Shirt and ID Card which will be ordered once your license has been obtained. Whether you want to help out during an emergency, wish to take part in contest or just chat on the air, getting your Amateur Radio license has never been easier or more fun, than it is now. * All training is provided for free. ¹ Cost of the Technician Licensee Manual if ordered through us, not required. ² Testing fee paid to the Volunteer Examiners (VE), this is a required fee. ³ Includes ARRL Technician Licensee Manual, Part 97 Manual and handouts, not required. |
